I'm a BIG Corbucci fan. Yesterday, I took this film for another spin. It was made between DJANGO and THE GREAT SILENCE (both Corbucci classics). Does it measure up?
Well, no. Not really. Don't get me wrong, it's a good film (I especially like the ending). But you could tell Corbucci was just going by the numbers with this one.
The plot? A family has stolen a vast amount of Union cash in an attempt to resurrect the Confederacy. Along the way they run into army troops and Mexican bandits, not to mention a few other hiccups. Unfortunately, it's all rather pedestrian.
Still, an average Corbucci is better than a lot of other spaghetti oaters. I recommend it.
