As for the stories, always felt Caleb Thorn was too arrogant and too sadistic. The introduction of his men is always a put off for me because: they were secondary characters as far as I was concerned and I was not interested in their histories. I liked how Terry kept a distance with Edge's crew, they were just there. Also, the names felt like they had been used before. I did not think that this particular idea was original.
Also when a protagonist has a horse with a name we are stepping into the Roy Rogers arena. I don't think Edge and Steele ever had the same horse for more than three books, and they didn't name it if they did.
I liked some of the historical references to the battles and things ( I like American history), but having just dipped into the two samples from PP, I'm not really interested in revisiting the whole series again. Maybe I've just matured, or grown up, or grown old.
Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone. Thanks John.

I don't like when characters name their horses, either.
And I'm not a fan of Terry's Civil War flashback stories. I never could dig those.

Big Ben: I know that #3 is due in December, but can you tell us about the rest of the series? Has there been any scheduling for books four and five?

I like the cover, too. But I don't know... I kinda liked his face being on the cover. It gave it a bit of a continuation vibe.

Looking back at all the covers, it looks like they have all been changed
