Just some thoughts guys, trying to look for something new to read and picked up Luke Jensen, Bounty Hunter. Just wondered, it says first time in print, does that mean this is a brand new story, or that it's been rewritten, because the guy died in 2004. And do you think it's a series of writers like Mack Bolan or the Executioner?
The writing is very simplistic and totally different from George G. Gillman.
Also, don't know about you, but I do like drawn covers and not pictures of real people.

Clearly either Pinnacle or the Johnstone estate or maybe the two together have hired a bunch of writers to keep putting out westerns under the William W. Johnstone name, because it's so successful. I have no problem with this because I still think it's fun to read, follow and collect all the various series, and frankly anything that keeps the western alive and selling is to be commended. But I do feel that publishers have gotten into the habit of playing safe, or hedging their bets. Do they really think we're not intelligent enough to realize that these new books have NO real connection with the original author?

If you read enough of them I'm sure you'll be able to pick up on differing styles.
Luke Jensen: Bounty Hunter is a new story but what intrigues me is how they decide who to write a new series about?

I think news series come from one of two sources -- the Johnstones see an opportunity to give peripheral characters their own series and then Pinnacle commission it, or writers already contributing to the existing series pitch a new idea. Either way, it works for me!
