It took me a long time to get round to watching Deadwood. After seeing the first episode when it first started running, I was so offended by the bad language and general crudity of it, I just couldn't bring myself to go any further. However, just this year, I got hold of it for my husband who recommended that I try to get past the obscenities because underneath there were well rounded and interesting characters and events that he knew I would enjoy. I trusted his judgement and boy was I glad I did. It turned out to be one of the best things I've ever seen. Having said that, series 3, IMO was very weak and the end left me greatly disappointed.

I really liked this one. And yeah, they really put on the profanities, didn't they? Still, once you look past that, it's a fun time. I also concur about the third season.

I've never seen this series but did see somewhere that there was going to be a film or two to finish the series off, did that ever happen?

They weren't just well rouinded characters. They were real people who's lives were fictionalised for the series. There is a websiteb for the town of Deadwood and you will find a bit of history about the likes of Sol Starr, who he married etc.
