I read a review of the first book on Steve's site, and he seemed to enjoy it. Saying that, I've read some pretty negative comments regarding the rest of the series.
Steve: Is this one worth tracking down?

Was over a year ago that I read it and, to be honest, I don't remember much about it. I guess it depends whether you like Bensen's writing and adult westerns in general. Don't think it had a lot of gun action though.

Okie dokie.
My curiosity (which killed the proverbial cat) is piqued, though. I've had a hankering for a good adult oater. Maybe this'll scratch my itch. I'll give the first few books a day in court.
Thanks!

I seem to have the impression that the series is best read in order.

I picked up the first four books. When I get and read them, I'll report back.

The series was written by a guy called Donald Bensen. We corresponded briefly during the period that he wrote FARO. He was a nice guy.
