Just out of curiosity-and so I can tell my publisher--has anyone here bought any of the early Gunsmiths on Kindle or Nook? Or any of the first books in the Gunsmith, Angel eyes, Tracker or Mountain Jack Pike series since they lowered the price to $2.99?

Since I have them all as paperbacks I haven't felt the need. I'd consider it if I had any gaps to fill.

I have bought the 1st books at 2.99,but all the rest are 9.99 and to be brutally honest i wouldnt touch them at that price. I am a huge fan of all your work but the e-books are way to high.

Thanks, Larry. I know that the first 8 are available. The first 200 are scheduled.

Larry, I also think the $9.99 is too high. I'm trying to get them to drop the price.

How about $5.99. I'm still working on my pub.

One thing I've learned through Piccadilly Publishing is that you have to be fair to the reader. These are tough times all round, and quite often (although it may sound a little dramatic to say so) buying a download for $6 can make a real difference to some people. Personally, I would not charge more than $2.99 ... but to really make it appealing I would drop the price to $2.50. The one thing that works in your favour, Bob, is that you have the numbers on your side ... so many books, each one helping to promote all the others. It's not as if your publisher has to rely on one, two, or even just ten books to make money. You have a backlist of hundreds. I also have a feeling that, however unfairly it might be, a higher price reflects badly on the author, making him seem like a money-grabber. The fact that it's actually the publisher who sets the price is immaterial to some people.

I concur. I know I have trouble spending $3.50 on Terry's e-books. I think it's a bit high. And I really liked the fact that PP lowered their price on HERNE THE HUNTER. Made that decision easy to buy them.
I still can't believe that I'm buying all these titles and I own the physical books. I just love to support my favorite publishers, though!

After the first year the Gunsmith was published (1982)I was supposed to do a spin-off series called LADY GUNSMITH. At the time Berkley bought Charter, the first Gunsmith published, and put the Kibosh on that idea. never came up again. Whataya'll think? Now that westerns are selling well, again.
